Tunnel Characteristics Helpful for Rapid
Development Work

High productivity
Atmospheric wind tunnels found at universities usually have the best productivity. These tunnels typically range from 7’x10’ to 8’x12’.
Smaller tunnels (cheaper) usually have poor data acquisition systems and balances.
Larger wind tunnels usually are burdened by excess rules and regulations in addition to poor productivity.
Disadvantages of 7’x10’ to 8’x12’ atmospheric tunnels
  Limited RN
Limited model size ~ 1/9 for 8’x12’ tunnel
Some don’t have power on testing capability
UWAL is the most productive of the university or industry tunnels in this size range.
